The screen is very well made with heavy gauge materials, however…While the Drolet Legend III parts diagram shows this screen to fit, it does not in its present form. It is 1” too tall.
After inserting the upper clips of the screen frame behind the top edge of the stove opening, the lower clips are 1” below the lower opening. And the upper corners of the screen frame scratches the paint of the stove during the insertion process, no matter how hard I try. The lower clips can be removed & I plan on installing them on the lower Side of the frame & having them clip the sides of the stove opening instead. And SBI, if you’re reading this, you could make an extended clip to achieve this without remaking the Screen Frame.
The included hinged Smoke Deflector that attaches to the 3 threaded studs in the upper interior of the stove opening would remain in the UP position when not using the screen but after a day, it flipped down and would not stay up when not using the screen. So I modified that as well by slipping it between the upper clips of the screen frame and the screen frame itself (via elongating the holes of the frame where the clips attach to allow for the thickness of the Smoke Deflector).
I should mention that Stove Builders International (parent company) asked me to email pictures but I felt that my mods solved the problems more conveniently than the whole exchange process from a remote mountain location. The time to perform the modifications was less than a roundtrip to a UPS store and I was able to immediately use the screen afterwards.
I should mention that mounting the lower clips to the side of the screen frame will require a spacer of sorts to pack out the clips to allow the screen assembly to snap into place. If memory serves me correct, it’s about 1/4” on each side. Also, 2 pairs of appropriate length bolts and nuts will be required to accommodate the mod.
