Great Stove

I bought this to replace our old stove that was at least 20 years old. Glad I did, it looks great and burns great, the added blower spreads the heat quickly and efficiently. I disagree with the review that says you need to add a damper on the chimney pipe. The baffle at the top is supposed to be at the rear of the stove not the front. If left forward it would allow way too much air flow straight up the pipe. The owners manual shows the baffle is supposed to be at the rear and even says to leave the door open when starting a fire from scratch. I literally left the door open for less than 3 minutes to allow the wood to start burning and had zero issues with overheating. The air flow adjustment works just fine and I have zero issues with it burning through wood to quickly. This stove will keep us warm for years to come. I was lucky enough to catch it on sale and feel I got a great deal on a great stove.

Great stove and great people

We got the Drolet Heritage wood stove and we absolutely love it! Great price on a wonderfully engineered stove. Very well made!! Nicest stove we’ve had in 50 years of owning wood heaters by far.

Good little stove, but may need adjustment of stove pipe flow to burn optimally.

I like this stove overall, but I had to "choke it down" with a stove pipe damper.
As delivered it burned through wood way too fast yielding temperatures of 700 F when fully loaded. I did not trust it to burn unless I was in the basement. My assessment is that at the minimum air intake setting it still pulled way too much air in. Apparently my 28 foot triple wall chimney gave enough draft to suck air right through the thing creating a very hot fire.
Prior to installing the stove pipe damper it would burn through 2 Poplar logs in 1 hour, Oak would last 20 minutes longer. It can only fit 4 logs, so lasting all night was not a possibility. Not to mention my fear of it raging out of control while my family slept.
With the damper installed and set horizontally, i.e. minimum exhaust airflow, I now can get about 6-7 hours out of a full load of Oak at night. I burn Poplar during the day requiring reloads every 4 hours or so.
That being said it burns nicely, the window stays fairly clean, and is now efficient in regards to heat per quantity of wood. It is way better than my old 1980's stove. It also produces way less smoke outside than my old catalytic stove (without the catalytic converter which cost me $200 every 2 years).
If the intake would have restricted more air as delivered I would have rated this stove a "5". It seems well made, produces really nice heat using the automatic fan control, and makes a really nice flame pattern. As a matter of fact when my basement gets finished and I move it to the family room side of the basement I will install a foot off the floor on a pedestal so the flame is more visible.
Helpful hint: When you install it, before attaching the stove pipe, push the top "brick" forward from the exhaust opening. Almost half of the exhaust opening will be exposed when this is in the correct position. This will make it a lot easier to start. During shipping this "brick " can shift rearwards restricting the flow enough to require leaving the door partially opened to start it. Kind of a pain, but an easy fix.
