Product Overview
The Grizzly G0709 is a 14" x 40" gearhead metal lathe built for precision turning, threading, and chambering work on long parts. Designed with gunsmithing in mind, it features an extra-large 1.57" spindle bore and a spider mount system with brass-tipped screws to help stabilize rifle barrels and other long shafting through the outboard end of the spindle.
A 2 HP motor and 8 spindle speeds from 70 to 2000 RPM give it the range needed for both detailed work and heavier cutting. High-precision NSK bearings, a hardened and ground cast-iron bed, lever-operated controls, and a tailstock locking system help deliver repeatable accuracy during extended use.
This machine is well suited for gunsmiths, machinists, and serious shop users who need a capable lathe for barrel work, threading, repair, and general metalworking. Useful additions like a foot brake, quick-change tool post, flood coolant system, LED work light, and pull-out chip tray make it a strong fit for demanding workshop environments.
