I needed another generator
..my old one had carburator problems..we lived in houston and hurricane season had just started..read the reviews a d ordered it..came right to the door in three days like promised...took it out the box an put it together..following week hurricane harvey hit..was on generator 3 weeks..now live in east tx..storms just hit and was on generator 30 hrs straight..this Duro Star 10000 has never missed a beat..best buy I ever made...Iam no sales man just a. My DuroStar DS10000EH arrived is excellent condition. Removal of the shipping braces and assembly of wheels and handles was simple. Instructions for these tasks were described well in the instructions provided.
Our reason for purchasing this generator is for backup power for our house.
I chose to run it exclusively on propane to avoid the problems of long term storage of gasoline. So I acquired a 30 lb (7 gal) propane tank and a 20 lb tank. I filled the crankcase with synthetic motor oil. It started easily once I realized that it only needed partial choke. I let it idle for one to two minutes until it ran more smoothly and until it didn't threaten to die when I change the choke position. I did not try to start it with the manual recoil starter until it had already warmed up. The amount of pull force required was less than I expected. it started on the first pull. I did not attempt to manually start it cold.
It is connected to run full house-power through a transfer switch. I did not turn off any of the house circuit breakers prior to transferring poser to the generator - so it took the whole starting load of the refrigerator, freezer, and gas furnace when the load was transferred. When I closed the breaker, no changes to the loudness or engine speed could be detected as we listened for changes in the sound of the exhaust. I set the dryer on HOT. When I turned it on, no changes were noted in the exhaust.
The output voltage was 119.7 volts.
So far we are very pleased with the generator.
Suggestions for house connection.
1.Assuming that your generator will be outside, made sure you install your socket/plug on the outside of your house. If you don't, your connection cord will need to go through an open door (a bad plan in the winter)
2. Interlock plates are available to eliminate the need for a transfer switch. An interlock can be installed without rewiring your incoming power. These may not be acceptable in some locations. Check with your power company.

I haven't used it yet. Probably won't use it for a while. FactoryPure needs a better tracking system when there is a delivery delay.
