My shopping experience with Factory Pure was one of the worst I have experienced and I have shopped quite a bit online from many different vendors. I ordered a very expensive Honda generator and requested free shipping to the terminal. I received a phone call a week later saying the closest terminal was over 2 hours away. Why cannot Factory Pure use other carriers that would get closer to my home. And why did it take a week to let me know this? I know there are several shipping terminals within one hour of my home. To avoid having to drive over 2 hours to pick up the generator I paid the extra $49 to ship to home. It took Factory Pure 14 days to finally ship my generator and their website says it should have taken 3 to 5 days. That was terrible. After it shipped it made it to a terminal in Jackson MS 6 days later. I kept checking the tracking and every day for a week it kept showing it was not due to arrive to the terminal in Mobile AL for two subsequent days. By this I mean on Thursday, it said it would arrive in Mobile on Monday. On Monday, it would be Wednesday, on Tuesday it would be Thursday, and so on. It was stuck in Jackson MS. I called the help line and they spoke with the shipping company and for a day or two it was lost. Finally they determined it was on its way to Mobile but the dock clerk “forgot to scan it”. After it finally made it to Mobile nearly 4 weeks later, I called the shipping company and thankfully they put it on the truck for delivery the following day. Imagine advertising on your website that if you order a generator it will take 28 days for delivery. I think you would lose the sale. By the way, my credit card was charged when I ordered the item, not when it was shipped or delivered. When the generator arrived it appeared to be an “open box” item. There was a plain brown box loosely covering the generator but I would have expected a very expensive Honda generator to arrive in a factory sealed Honda box. The unit appeared to be in OK condition but there was some paint rubbing due to not being packed real well and the cover for the battery box was missing. The battery box was mounted very poorly to the frame so that the bolts were crooked and were pulling out of the plastic box. Another reason for my thinking it is an open box item (returned) is there was teflon tape on the threads where the natural gas or propane hose connects. I do not think teflon tape should be used on natural gas fittings so someone may have use this by mistake. In addition, the manual illustrates the connection with a quick connect fitting but there was no fitting on the connection or in the bag with the manuals. Yet another reason I suspect it is an open box item is there is a tag clearly stating there is no oil in the engine but my engine did have oil in it. I have not way to tell if it is the correct type oil but someone put something in there. Another complaint is there was no gas hoses in the box. The manual directions explain how to hook up propane and natural gas and describe the hose and fittings but there were none provided with the unit. I needed to order hoses and fittings before I was able to run the generator to make sure it works. Thank goodness after finally getting all the problems worked out the Honda generator appears to be a very good unit. I just wish I did not have to be the one to solve all the issues. This has been a terrible experience and I am very disappointed with Factory Pure.
